“It runs in the family”
and
“You were born with it”
This is what I heard as I asked my mom where I got my talent from. Lucky for her I used paper and not fresh drywall like some of my older cousins did!
My name is Tracey Ellicson-Ratzburg. I live in the town of Jackson, WI. with my husband, children, Ginger the dog and Zooki the 20 pound cat.
I am a stay at home mom (an oxymoron) of 4; inspiration enough for my portraits. I also moonlight as my husband’s secretary and would like to illustrate children’s books and such someday. So much to do, so little time. So I draw to keep my sanity—you’ve heard of art therapy?! And then there is that business I started this year of custom murals and decorative painting along with an up and coming line of personalized wall art aimed at the kid at heart…….
I have attended classes taught by local artists such as Dale Konstanz (MIAD & UW-Washington County), Pam Flanders and Kelly Kelenic who is associated with the Shauer Art Center in Hartford & the North Shore Academy of Art in Grafton, WI and has a private studio in Port Washington, WI. I have had gallery shows at St. Somewhere Café in West Bend, WI and more recently at the Painted Bean Coffee House and Gallery in Grafton, WI. Some of my work is graced by blue ribbons won at the Washington County Fair in 2002 & 2004. Now I have to find some more galleries and boutiques for my work.
I have always loved drawing people and animals and have found pencil to be a forgiving and affordable medium. Not to say that I won’t work in any other medium as I do.
So, along with lots of practice and my gift from God. . . . . . . An artist is born.
